Biography: Dr. Zahid Hussain
Dr. Zahid Hussain completed his Ph.D. in the field of Virology in the year 2008. Dr. Hussain also did his post-doctorate in Spain (Lleida University), South Korea (Yonsei University), and Canada (McGill University). After completing his post-doc, he joined King Saud University, KSA as an Assistant Professor (2010-2013), and later moved to Yonsei University College of Medicine, Gangnam Severance Hospital, Biomedical Research Center, Seoul, South Korea (2014- 2023). Apart from the above achievements, Dr. Hussain also worked as a Senior Research Fellow in ICMR-funded projects for more than 3.5 years. In conclusion, he has vast experience in biomedical research and exposure to the best laboratories nationally and internationally.
His research interest focuses on “Viral Hepatitis, Gut Microbiota, Functional Gastrointestinal Dysmotility, Liver and GI Cancer”. Dr. Hussain published 34 very good research articles in peer-reviewed journals and 2 book chapters and several mutated gene sequences submitted in NCBI (GenBank) database. He is also actively involved in guiding graduate, and postgraduate students and research scholars to help execute their designated projects and thesis. He is professionally well-equipped and trained in writing manuscripts and research grants. Based on his previous experience he would like to develop and teach an advanced course in Epigenetics, Molecular Biology, Molecular Virology, Genetic Engineering, Microbiology, Biochemistry, and Cell Biology.
Apart from teaching assignment, he would also like to conduct practical courses of graduate and postgraduate students. He is also well trained in research & technical skills such as DNA, RNA & Protein extraction, Agarose & PAGE electrophoresis, PCR, qPCR, Cloning, Tissue culture, Transfection, Transformation, Gene silencing, Immunofluorescence (IF), Fluorescence microscopy, FACS, Immunoblot (WB), ELISA, Cryomicrotome, Immunohistochemistry etc. He guides students how to use basic molecular biology software tools and biotechnological Instrument handling. Since he has vast scientific exposure and technical know-how, he intended and dreamt to pass it on to the next generation, especially those who cannot afford.
